M&E sector drives growth of OOH in 2013

 At the onset of 2013, Indian Television and Film industry has opened arm for outdoor advertising industry. With the launch of several new TV shows & reality programme including Nach Baliye season 5 (Star Plus), Amita ka Amit (Sony), Welcome (Life Ok), Aaj Ki Housewife Hai Sab Jaanti Hai (Zee TV), Nautanki and Sanskaar (Colours), Hunted Nights (Sahara One), Veera (Star Plus), Tota weds Maina (SAB TV).....OOH industry is enjoying its first inning of the year. Similarly, movies like Inkaar and Akaashvani had assigned significant budget for the outdoor promotions of their movie in metros and Tier II & Tier III cities.

Says Gupta, “OOH medium is the most cost-effective mode of advertising. For every budget, OOH industry has something to offer. On the flip side, Gupta says, “there are some major problems which the OOH industry faces such as illegal hoardings, standardization of price for an OOH property, unorganized market players and slack monitoring system. These are some of the areas where an OOH industry has to work upon.”

On major spenders, Gupta says, “while telecom, automobile, BFSI, FMCG, media & entertainment are the largest spenders, education, Marathi/Bhojpuri movies, travel & hospitality are the emerging sectors.” Commenting further on the resilience of the sector,

On future growth plans, Gupta says, he wants to expand Globals’ reach in Tier II and Tier III cities. “We would be acquiring premier locations, explore new OOH formats and focus on innovations. We will reinstate our monitoring system to calculate return on investment,” he avers.

Daler Mehndi’s son Sardar Hero Gurdeep debuts in Bollywood Movie ‘Meri Shadi Karwao’ Promoted widely through an OOH Campaign

The famous pop singer Daler Mehndi’s son Gurdeep Mehndi is all set to begin his career in bollywood with a movie ‘Meri Shaadi Karwao’. The movie is schedule to release on 4th January, 2013.


Gurdeep is the first ‘Sardar hero (turbaned hero)’of bollywood, acting as an obedient boy in a sweet romantic comedy movie- Meri Shaadi Karwao.

The heroine of the film is debutant actress  Radhika Vaid from New Zealand.
The Hindi / Punjabi movie revolves around the story of a chacha (Manoj Pahwa), a bachelor and his bhatija (Gurdeep).

The director is Syed Noor and the film features songs by Daler Mehndi, Gurdeep Mehndi, Harjeet Mehndi and Kishan Pal. The film is produced by Daler Mehndi.
